Rudolf Steiner was an Austrian philosopher, social reformer, architect, and esotericist.

Born in February, 1861, he died shortly after his 64th birthday, on 30 March, 1925)

In the early 1900s he founded a spiritual movement known as anthroposophy, which is a formal educational, therapeutic, and creative system, seeking to use mainly natural means to optimize physical and mental health and well-being.

This esoteric philosophy has roots in German idealist philosophy and theosophy, and Steiner looked to build a Western approach to spirituality basing his spiritual research and teachings upon the Western esoteric and philosophical tradition.

The German Section of the Theosophical Society grew rapidly under Steiner’s leadership as he lectured throughout much of Europe on his spiritual science.
